OutremerThe Saga of the Knights Templar
In 2007 Dafoe decided to combine two of his passions - the history of the Knights Templar and his love of comic books. The result is an original comic story that chronicles the history of the Knights Templar from their origins at the end of the First Crusade, until their demise two centuries later. The story will be told in a series of trade paperbacks, with each volume telling one chapter of the Templars' story. The first volume will tell the story of Hugues de Payens and Geoffrey de St. Omar, and the events that led to the creation of the Knights Templar. Although the story takes some fictional liberties to fill in the blanks and to flesh out the story, Outremer will stay closer to the actual history of the Templars than many of the so-called history books written about the Templar in recent years.
