Utilizing his extensive research into the abduction and alleged murder of William Morgan by members of the Masonic fraternity in 1826, Dafoe penned a 40-page story, A Notice & a Caution: The Masonic Murder of William Morgan.

The story is perhaps the strangest thing Dafoe has ever penned; written as a children's story by a child, A Notice & a Caution tells a violent, horrifying and scandalous tale in a humorous, satirical and cynical manner.

For the 2007 edition of the Tales From The Harbor anthology, Dafoe created another original story for the book. This time around Dafoe did a 12 page comic story using photography as a base.

The story was called Keep the Change and is about a middle-aged man working midnights in a convenience store. The tale has been described by Tales' creator Jay Bardyla as "angry and harsh".
